Senior Photos in Everett – Class of 2018

The minutes, hours, days and years just keep on cruising by. I remember when this guys was in middle school! Now he’s in his last year of high school and counting down his own minutes, hours and days until graduation and the next step in life. It was so fun to head out and around to take senior photos in Everett, Washington

Senior Photos in Everett, WA at the Everett Station

Everett offers so much variety in environment and backgrounds, in such a close proximity, especially for a senior. We started at the Everett Station. The architecture there is amazing and an added bonus is that it offers a bit of cover in case of rain. Our luck held out and the skies stayed dry for our shoot. Though the clouds did not disappoint in giving us a dark and stormy look for a few.

Everett’s train station has covered walkways, a pedestrian bridge, beautiful gardens and gorgeous bright windows inside. In addition, how cool is it to watch the trains come and go?

Mukilteo Beach Senior Photos

After taking hanging out in Everett we cruised over to Mukilteo Beach to continue the senior portrait experience. The lighthouse, the beach, the ferry, the Puget Sound, the driftwood and grasses, and the stormy sky did not fail us. Senior guys can look pretty great even at a beach.

I really enjoyed hanging out with these friends and capturing their young adults last year of high school. Take a look at the photos. If you’re a friend or family, notice how mature he is looking and what a great guy he is growing up to be. If you’re interested in the area, Everett and Mukilteo Beach both offer beauty, sometimes in unpredictable places. If you’d like to schedule a photo session, send me a note here: http://www.pureshotsphoto.com/contact-me-2/

And without further ado, here are this young man’s senior photos in Everett and Mukilteo

Maternity Family Photos at Forest Park {Everett, WA Photographer}

Forest Park

Less than a week before her baby was due, I met this family at Forest Park in Everett, Washington to show off her baby bump. We documented how excited they were for their little man to arrive with maternity family photos at Forest Park. Forest Park offers an amazing backdrop for photos. For families, it’s a park so there is space to run, jump and wiggle. Kids can be themselves walking the trail, checking out logs, throwing leaves in the air and running through the field. The trail is easily accessible from the parking lot. In the spring, winter and fall, there is plenty of parking and we almost have the space to ourselves. Fall colors at Forest Park are vibrant and beautiful. All of this allows me to capture moments and memories of families playing.

Maternity and Family

Big sister was so excited to take photos with her mom, dad and soon to be here little brother. I took her photos a couple weeks earlier, capturing her and her cousins hanging out together, so she was pretty comfortable and warmed right up to my camera and me. She did want to be the star of a few photos. I loved giving her that star moment knowing she’s soon going to have to share the spotlight with an adorable little baby brother cooing and vying for attention.

Congratulations on your newest little arrival. Update: Baby is here and all are healthy and home resting.

The Photos

Seattle Senior Photos at Japanese Gulch and Mukilteo Lighthouse

When you’re from Seattle and you want unique senior photos, heading up to Everett is sure to please. We had so much variety in backgrounds for this stunning young woman’s senior photos. She loves horses, but her horses are boarded quit a ways south, so we opted for some natural beauty a little closer to home.

Japanese Gulch offered us a trail with dappled light peaking through the trees behind her. A babbling creek created a lovely soundtrack to our meanderings. Mukilteo Lighthouse Park gave us some architecture to work with. The beach rounded out our photo shoot with beach grasses, mini dunes, logs and water. The train passed by on the tracks behind us (never shoot photos on train tracks – Google it if you want to know why – dangerous!). We even witnessed a colorful a sunset, often a rare occasion in Snohomish County. What a gorgeous night we were surprised with!

Miss S’s hair and makeup were done beautifully before the session. Her loose curls were perfect! She had a few outfits picked out for the afternoon and we used them in the different locations. Her mom jumped in a few of the photos, which I highly recommend. Take the opportunity to be in a photo together. You or she will appreciate it one day!

As the sun went down and we wrapped up the session, we said our see-you-laters and she headed off to finish up a last year of high school and I went home to edit some stunning senior photos.

Everett Family Photos celebrating 4 years of life

Cold, crisp mornings have produced the most amazing light at my new favorite spot in Everett. Down by the riverfront, magical golden sunlight pours through a tall stand of trees and gives a glow to the air and the people in front of my lens. In Everett family photos couldn’t be taken at a more beautiful spot. I found this out while taking these photos of my littlest man.

So I was thrilled when our friends decided they wanted to have their daughter’s 4 year old pictures taken here. They were willing to wake up at the not-so-crack-of-dawn to meet us out there by 9am. Another oft forgotten side perk of morning photo shoots are the later sunrises. Sunrise provides a different, beautiful quality to the light hitting the camera than sunset does. Both create soft light, but somehow, waking up early, the light, and the extra effort of getting family photos done early in the morning all come together to create stunning images. Even in landscape photography, there is something greater about sunrise photos. Maybe it’s that not everyone wants to rise and shine that early so the images are less common. I love sunrise photos. If you’re a morning person – let’s schedule a morning shoot. They are the best!

The light did not disappoint this morning. Fall clothes were the attire of choice – with heavy winter coats for moments between shooting. Frost covered the tips of the grass and ice still shimmered across the puddles and edges of the river. It rarely gets that cold in Everett, but this year we had a freezing spell that lasted a good while just before we took these photos.

This little one could see her breath, it was so cold. The temperature outside didn’t stop her from showing off her poses for the camera. She took a little while to warm up, literally and figuratively, but was quickly moving from one pose and one location to the next. So adorable, so smart, so classy, so adventurous, and so much fun.

Baby T’s 4 month baby pictures, Everett WA photographer

After meeting baby T for the first time, we decided it would be amazing to capture more than one stage in his first year of life. His mom and dad booked a Baby’s First Year package and before we knew it, it was time for his 4 month baby pictures. The days often go so very slow when you’re in the trenches of changing diapers, all night feedings, and sleep deprivation. However, the months go so very very fast and they don’t come back. A year of photos helps jog memories and remind us of just how precious each little detail was.

Babies move so quickly from one stage to the next, before you know it they moved from the teeny, tiny newborn whimper to the more demanding and much louder “I need you” now cry. They start to connect their gaze with yours and with objects in the room. The begin to hold their head up and maybe even roll over. They might start to grow a little hair or they might lose the hair they were born with. Their eyes might change color and they might even pop out a tooth. It goes so fast. It’s cliche but true. I’m so thankful for photos to remind me just how tiny they once were.

Baby’s first year package starts with an optional maternity session, followed by newborn, 4 month, 8 month and one year photo shoots to capture the baby pictures. All newborn photo sessions include a keepsake accordion book. First year packages include a hard cover album documenting the year. Contact me to book your baby pictures with Everett, Washington photographer Christi Hardy of PureShots Photography.

Baby T’s Newborn Photos by Everett, WA photographer

Baby T’s house was warm and cozy the evening of his newborn photos by Everett, Washington photographer, PureShots Photography. He is the first child in his family and his house was calm and quiet, surrounding him with nurture and love. Books fill his nursery and bottles dry on the counter. A swing sits in the corner, a newborn car seat in a stroller, and his blankets and newborn things are set out and ready to snuggle him up. His mom kept him awake and playing for a few hours before I arrived, making sure he was happy and content.

Shortly before I walked through the front door she made sure his belly was nice and full and that he had everything that a tiny little life could want. We started shooting catching all his little details: the wrinkles, the toes, the tiny eyelashes, the little mouth. Dad wandered in and out checking on us and checking on the fantasy football game at the same time. Baby T was quite contented through all the photos, smiling for some of the pictures and sleeping for others. This little man hardly cried at all. We took plenty of breaks for diaper changes and feedings.

This was the second session in a baby’s first year package – following a maternity shoot. At 4 months we photograph his changes and more details of his life, including his nursery and surroundings. At 8 months we see him sitting up and at a year we watch him start to play with toys and maybe enjoy a cake or even walk!

Welcome to the world little man!

Baseball Letterman Senior Photos – Lynnwood Washington Senior Photographer

I had the joy and privilege of photographing an up and coming baseball third baseman for his senior photos. We started out the evening at Meadowdale Playfields “playing” baseball. The light was full sun but it was evening so it created dramatic shadows and made for interesting sports photos. After we wandered all over the baseball fields we headed for Meadowdale Beach Park, also known as Lund’s Gulch. (http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/lunds-gulch-meadowdale-county-park)

This was my first time at this park. How could I have never checked out this amazing piece of land only a half an hour from my house? We started out up high near the parking lot and hiked down a little ways to a set of stairs holding up the steep trail. After a few shots around the stairs I told his parents we wanted to get a few shots down a little further near some amazing tree trunks and tree stumps. After doing just that we debated whether it was worth it to make a bolt for the beach or head back to the car and drive to another beach that wasn’t such a hike. Heading to the beach won out.

We hiked down the over 400ft elevation drop in under a half mile. Then we balanced our way over the narrow walkway through the fish passage tunnel to come out to the beach. Was it ever worth it!! The sunset was spectacular, and anytime I get to look out onto the waters of the Puget Sound with Whidbey Island and the Olympic mountain range in the background – it is worth it. Beach grasses, a pebble beach, driftwood, and water all make for amazing photo backdrops. I could tell you more, but you can just look at the photos and see how amazing this park is. I highly recommend it if you want to experience a little nature in the middle of the city and want to get a good workout in while you’re at it!

Newborn Photos for Baby D

Baby D took his sweet time to enter the light of the world. He was born a week and a half past his due date – making sure he was good and ready to open his eyes and meet his family. He’s the sweet brother to 3 older siblings who obviously adore him already! We scheduled his newborn photos for when he was about 10 days new.

When I met my sweet cousin’s new little bundle the room was toasty warm, the kids were playing and making lots of noise in the backyard, and Baby D was ready for his photoshoot. We undressed him into his birthday finest and he decided to be awake for most of the photos. Silly guy! I love seeing his beautiful new eyes taking in the world around him. And the big, wide-mouthed yawn telling me he was so tired, but there was so much to observe. Right after I left, this little man took a 3 hour nap. Hopefully that meant some well needed rest time for his mom as well!

The other kids weren’t too thrilled about getting in the picture, but as soon as they layed down next to their new little brother they were all smiles. Baby D tried to nuzzle up to his big sister’s ear – inducing laughter all around! What a special family for this little guy to have joined.

A Wedding, A Baptism, and a Party in Bothell, Washington

When I met with Alison and Robert to chat about their wedding, almost all details of the wedding had to be changed at the last minute. The couple did a fantastic job at rolling with the changes and created a beautiful day to celebrate their love, their faith, their family and their daughter.

The wedding day started early in the morning with a hair appointment in Seattle. My second photographer, Jason Allen Images, and I met up with the wedding party and family at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bothell, Washington. The Hilton provided beautiful rooms for getting ready. After getting ready, the groomsmen rode in style in a hummer to the ceremony site at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the bridal party following shortly after. The churches pews welcomed family and friends supporting the couple while the priest offered mass and joined the two in matrimony. The ceremony included several traditions including a Lasso Ceremony in which Robert’s mom and dad entwined the couple in a lasso in the form of an 8 to symbolize their everlasting union. After giving each other their rings, they performed a coin ceremony in which they gave each other coins symbolizing their dedication to care for each other, their children and the world around them. After their first kiss and announcing the newlyweds as Mr. and Mrs., Alison and Robert had their daughter baptized.

After the ceremony Alison and Robert embraced a moment as a newly married couple as we took to the outdoors to take  photos of just the two of them as husband and wife. We met at North Creek Park for a little PDA in front of the camera. Though we were able to take beautiful natural light photos, it was also a moment to breathe and relax in the company of each other with no one else around. Alison and Robert are a fun loving couple, so though we tried to be serious, they couldn’t help but joke around with each other and have fun with the photos.

After a few quiet moments – and we made it quick because it was raining – we headed over to the reception back at the Hilton Garden Inn. The DJ with Energia Events announced their arrival at the reception and provided the stage and lighting for the reception. The Hilton catered the event with appetizers through the night. There was socializing, dancing, a money dance and cake cutting. There was a Bolo celebrating their daughter’s baptism with the throwing of money to the children in their community. The party went on into the wee hours of the night. This family knows how to celebrate!
